“Of all the arts, for us, the cinema is the most important.” — Vladimir Lenin
In an increasingly polarized political climate in academia, it is important to ensure that diverse leftist perspectives are equally heard and recognized in the current era of mass censorship. Founded by a small group of Marxist students who believed critical theory’s applications in cinema should extend beyond simple historicized recognition of the Soviets and the Frankfurt School, Stachka! aims to re-politicize the academic discourse surrounding film and media studies. Using Marxism-Leninism as our guiding ideological framework, Stachka! highlights scholarship that synthesizes our political aims as Communists and the methods of critical theory.
